PAINT PROTECTION SPECIALIST
Who This Service Is For
Some vehicles are worth more than their market value. They represent years of ownership, careful restoration, or simply the decision to buy something you intend to keep. The paint on those vehicles deserves to be treated accordingly.
The vehicles I work on typically fall into a few categories:
- Classic cars with original paint that cannot be treated the same way as modern clear coat
- Restomods where the build is finished and the paint needs protection that does not compromise it
- Collector and performance vehicles where paint condition affects long term value
- New vehicles whose owners want protection applied before Florida has the chance to do its damage
In every case the goal is the same. Correct the paint properly. Apply protection that is appropriate for that specific vehicle. Document the work so there is a permanent record of the paint protection system installed. This is my process.
The work I do is not a detail. It is a protection system applied correctly, registered on your vehicle's CARFAX history, and backed by a 10-year manufacturer warranty.
If you care about the condition of your paint five and ten years from now, you are in the right place.
Call me.
THE WORK
The Difference Is in the Details
Every vehicle in this gallery was corrected, refined, and protected by Steve Calafato. These are not quick detail jobs or dealership cover-ups.
They are high-end vehicles, collector cars, performance cars, restomods and rare builds that required proper preparation and attention to detail.
SERVICES
What I Do
Everything I apply depends on the step before it. Paint correction is where every service begins. Once the paint has been corrected, ceramic coating or liquid paint protection film can be applied depending on the vehicle and the owner’s goals.
Paint Correction
Paint correction removes the defects that develop in automotive paint over time.
Swirl marks, spider webbing, oxidation, light scratches, and car wash damage are refined through multi-step machine polishing. This restores clarity and prepares the surface for liquid paint protection film or ceramic coating.
If ceramic coating or liquid paint protection film is applied over damaged paint, those defects remain permanently sealed beneath the surface.
Liquid Paint Protection Film
NanoPro LPF is applied to corrected paint in liquid form and cures into a seamless solid-state film.
Because it begins as a liquid rather than a pre-cut sheet, the material conforms to curves, edges, and recessed areas without seams, lift lines, or visible cut edges.
Liquid PPF is most commonly applied to high-impact areas of the vehicle such as the hood, front bumper, and front fenders where road debris and stone chips occur.
Ceramic Coating
NanoPro Borograph ceramic coating bonds directly to corrected paint or over cured NanoPro LPF.
Once cured, the coating forms a hydrophobic surface that helps resist UV exposure, environmental contaminants, and oxidation while making the vehicle easier to maintain.
When Borograph is applied over cured NanoPro LPF, the installation qualifies for a 10-year manufacturer warranty and is registered in the vehicle’s CARFAX history.

THE PRODUCT
Why I Use NanoPro®
I tested many professional ceramic coatings before I committed to one. Florida conditions are not forgiving. The heat, humidity, UV exposure, and salt air here will expose every weakness in a product fast.
NanoPro is manufactured in Boynton Beach, Florida and built specifically for this climate. It is professional grade and only available through certified installers. You cannot buy it online or at a retail store.
I am a NanoPro certified and trained installer. This means the job will be done right.
- Made in Florida. Built for Florida conditions.
- Professional grade. Not sold online or in stores.
- Only available through NanoPro-certified installers.
- NanoPro Borograph carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty.
- Registered on your vehicle's CARFAX history.

WHO I WORK WITH
New, Classic, Collector & Performance Vehicles
New Vehicles
If you just bought a new car, the ceramic coating the dealership offered you was not a professional grade ceramic. Dealer coatings are typically low-grade products applied by untrained staff. Florida UV starts working on your paint the day you drive it off the lot. I apply protection before that damage begins.
Classic Cars
Single-stage lacquer and enamel do not respond the same way as modern clear coat. Most detailers have only worked on one system. I have worked on both and I know the difference before I touch the paint.
Collector & Performance Cars
Paint condition on a collector car is not cosmetic. It affects what the vehicle is worth. I correct and protect the paint properly and document it, so there is a permanent record of the work done and the products used.
PAINT SYSTEMS EXPERTISE
Modern Paint and Single-Stage Paint Are Not the Same. I Treat Them Differently.
Not every vehicle has the same paint system, and I do not treat them the same way.
Most modern vehicles use a base coat and clear coat system. The color sits in the base coat, the clear coat sits on top of it, and correction is applied to the clear coat. I know that system well.
Many classic cars use single-stage lacquer or enamel, where the color and the gloss exist in the same layer of paint. There is no separate clear coat. That paint behaves differently under a machine. Heat management, compound selection, and pad choice all require adjustment. Working too aggressively removes material that cannot be replaced. Original paint on a classic vehicle is not the same as a modern respray. Once it is gone, it is gone for good.
I have worked on both systems extensively. Every vehicle gets assessed before anything touches it, because the right approach starts with knowing exactly what I am working with.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

PAINT PROTECTION 101
What Is Ceramic Coating?
Ceramic coating is an SiO2 liquid polymer that bonds directly to your vehicle’s paint and cures into a durable protective layer. Unlike wax or sealant, it becomes part of the surface rather than simply sitting on top of it.
Once cured, the ceramic coating creates a hydrophobic finish that helps resist Florida UV exposure, oxidation, environmental contamination, and the gradual dulling that occurs over time. It also makes the vehicle easier to wash and maintain.
NanoPro Borograph is a professional grade ceramic coating manufactured in Boynton Beach, Florida and engineered specifically for Florida heat, humidity, and sun. It is applied only by certified installers.
The ceramic coating is only as good as the paint underneath it. That is why every vehicle I coat is corrected first.
FAQ'S
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you come to my location or do I drop the car off?
I come to you. No shop, no drop-off, no transport risk. I work at your home, your office, or wherever your vehicle is located throughout Pinellas County and Tampa Bay. All applications are by appointment.
What is the difference between ceramic coating and wax?
Wax sits on top of your paint and degrades within weeks. Ceramic coating bonds chemically to the paint surface and cures into a hard protective layer. The protection is not comparable.
Do I need paint correction before ceramic coating?
Yes. Ceramic coating protects the surface it is applied to and paint correction correct damage below the surface. Swirl marks, spider webbing, oxidation, and scratches present before the coating goes on remain present underneath it. Paint correction removes that damage first. Every service I perform starts with paint correction.
Can you apply ceramic coating to a classic car?
Yes, but the preparation is different. Classic cars with single-stage lacquer or enamel require different correction techniques than modern clear coat systems. I have worked on both paint systems extensively and I assess every vehicle individually before anything touches the paint.
What is liquid paint protection film and how is it different from conventional PPF?
Conventional PPF is cut from sheets and installed as panels. There are always seam lines where panels meet. The NanoPro LPF is applied as a liquid and cures into a seamless solid-state film. No seams, no cut lines, no panel gaps.It is primarily applied to high-impact areas: the hood, front bumper, and front fenders. Liquid PPF can be optionally applied to the entire vehicle.
What does Permanent Status mean?
When I apply NanoPro Borograph ceramic coating over properly cured NanoPro LPF, the installation achieves Permanent Status under the NanoPro system. That installation is registered on your vehicle's CARFAX report as part of its permanent history, and is fully documented for the life of the vehicle.
Does ceramic coating come with a warranty?
Yes. NanoPro Borograph carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty. NanoPro LPF carries its own 10-year manufacturer warranty. Both are independent warranties. When the complete system is applied together, the installation achieves Permanent Status.
What areas do you serve?
I serve vehicle owners throughout Pinellas County and Hillsborough County. Tampa, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Palm Harbor, and Tarpon Springs and surrounding areas. For classic and collector vehicles outside this area, call and we can discuss travel within Florida.
